McLean & Company published new research revealing that inclusive workplaces foster conditions for employees to feel a sense of belonging, thus mitigating the negative impacts of exclusion. By building an inclusive work environment, organizations protect productivity, maintain wellbeing, and cultivate a strong organizational culture.
Key findings from McLean & Company’s research include:
- Employees reporting they are comfortable being themselves, a prerequisite to belonging, at their organization, were 5.7 times more likely to be engaged compared to those who are not comfortable being themselves (McLean & Company Engagement Survey, 2021-2024).
- Employees who feel their contributions are important are 3.5 times more likely to handle stress effectively compared to those who do not (McLean & Company Engagement Survey, 2021-2024).
- Respondents reporting that their organization is increasing investment in employee belonging were 54% more likely to highly rate their organization’s revenue growth compared to those not increasing investment in belonging (McLean & Company HR Trends Survey, 2025).
- Only 31% of HR respondents reported increasing investment in belonging (McLean & Company HR Trends Survey, 2025).
