The Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism announced the launch of the Ontario Anti-Hate Security and Prevention Grant to help protect communities against hate-motivated incidents. Faith-based, cultural, 2SLGBTQQIA+, First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and Urban Indigenous organizations and communities may be eligible for a one-time grant of up to $10,000 to help prevent and/or respond to hate-motivated incidents. Organizations must be a registered charity, not-for-profit corporation without share capital, First Nations band council, First Nations tribal council or First Nations education authority, and have as a primary activity, hosting regular gatherings (at least once per month) of religious, spiritual, or cultural significance (including ceremonies, congregations, classes, and events). Organizations can leverage funds to implement or enhance eligible protection measures incurred between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024.
