A recent study conducted by RBC Insurance found that Canadian employees are experiencing a negative impact on their overall well-being as a result of current economic pressures. The study found that employees are experiencing declining perceptions of mental health (57%), job satisfaction (55%), and financial health (44%). Survey respondents revealed that they are unaware of the scope of their employer-provided benefits (24%), and a large number of employees either do not have or are unaware if they have employer-provided benefits. The survey explored the impacts of affordability on well-being and found that 56% of working Canadians are struggling with financial security, and 39% are struggling with physical fitness. Survey respondents indicated that affordability is a top barrier to improving their well-being (54%), followed by busy schedules (33%), mental health (25%), and working extended hours (19%).
