According to the Express Employment Professionals-Harris Poll survey, Canadian organizations are reskilling existing employees rather than recruiting new staff amidst budget constraints. The study found that two in five organizations (41%) are not planning to recruit new staff this year, and 8% are planning a workforce reduction. Budgetary constraints are the top reason for organizations (73%) considering workforce reduction. While, 28% of organizations are not planning to hire or reduce their employee count. According to the research, more than half of organizations (52%) plan to reskill employees in 2024 to strengthen their workforce and address skills gaps in the organization.
