A recent report from Statistics Canada noted that homelessness support is a growing sector of the labour force across Canada. Women continue to outnumber men in the homelessness support sector, with 73.8% of workers identifying as women. Based on findings from 2020, homelessness support sector workers are more likely to be in poverty (6.7%) than all workers in all sectors (6%). Salaries in the support sector are low, with the median income for homelessness support sector workers being $34,000.
