Statistics Canada released the economic contribution of nonprofit institutions in Canada report. The data showed a 0.3% increase in real GDP in the fourth quarter of 2024. All nonprofit subsectors contributed positively to the rise in real GDP in the fourth quarter. The number of nonprofit jobs decreased in the fourth quarter (-0.1%), the first decline since the third quarter of 2020. In the fourth quarter of 2024, jobs were up 0.5% for nonprofits serving businesses, the only subsector to register an increase in jobs for the quarter. Due to a higher volume of nonprofit activity and increased prices, nonprofits’ nominal GDP rose by 0.7% in the fourth quarter.
