Statistics Canada conducted the Canadian Income Survey, which revealed that persons with disabilities earn less on average than persons without disabilities. Persons with disabilities aged 16 years and older have an average annual income of $11,500 less than persons without disabilities, representing a 21.4% pay gap.  The gap is caused by the barriers to accessibility, which often lead to lower employment rates and decreased income levels. Barriers include inaccessible technology and processes, inaccessible physical spaces, and discriminatory attitudes toward persons with disabilities.
