Statistics Canada conducted the Canadian Income Survey, which revealed that persons with disabilities earn less on average than persons without disabilities, $1.91/hour on average. According to the research, the unemployment rate remained higher among persons with a disability (7.6%) compared with their counterparts without disabilities (4.6%). In 2023, the employment rate of persons with a disability was 60.4% among Filipino Canadians, 57.0% among Latin American Canadians and 52.2% among South Asian Canadians. Concurrently, the employment rate of non-racialized and non-Indigenous people with a disability (46.2%) was 19.6 percentage point lower than the rate for their counterparts without disabilities (65.8%).
