The Labour Market Information Council released the Decoding Job Postings: Improving Accessibility for Neurodivergent Job Seekers Report, which highlights the importance of developing more inclusive hiring practices and fostering diverse, inclusive, accessible, and equitable workplaces. The report focuses on understanding the experiences and needs of neurodivergent people in Canada’s labour market, and specifically, explores neurodivergence at every stage of job recruitment and work. According to the research, neurodivergent adults have lower employment rates than the Canadian average, and neurodivergent adults are more likely to be underemployed. Based on these findings, the Labour Market Information Council notes that organizations should ensure that job postings are inclusive and concise, and the language is free from bias. The Labour Market Information Council, in collaboration with Auticon Canada, developed four recommendations for employers to improve job postings and make them more inclusive of neurodivergent job seekers.
