The report delves into how nonprofits are being impacted by inflation and, as a result, the increase in expenses. Nonprofits are struggling to afford these increases, as fixed funding streams are not accommodating these inflationary pressures. Nonprofit professionals are adapting to the blend of in-person and remote work, and employees are finding relief in the reduction of daily commutes. The report posited that nonprofits are demonstrating widespread awareness of DEI initiatives and are making strides toward equity, however, nonprofits are reportedly lacking resources to conduct this vital work. With the ever-rising climate change concerns, nonprofits are reported to be uniquely positioned to act locally in response to climate action.

• 63% of nonprofits reported the ability to meet demand as challenging / very challenging.
• 65% of respondents reported revenue is increasing or staying the same.
• 82% of respondents reported a slight or substantial increase in expenses.
• 50% of respondents felt they had “equitable policies and practices in place”.
• 56% of those who searched for staff found it challenging or very challenging to recruit.
• 62% of respondents found volunteer recruitment challenging or very challenging.
• 52% of nonprofits are concerned or very concerned about the mental health of staff.
• 74% feel climate change has impacted their operations.
