PwC released the Global Workforce Hopes and Fears Survey 2024 Report, which delves into the state of the global workforce and the impacts of digital transformation. Over 56,000 workers across 50 countries were surveyed as part of the research. The study explored employee perceptions and attitudes relevant to six critical actions C-suite leaders must take to build a change-ready workforce. The key transformation themes framing the study are as follows: leading through transformation, unleashing the power of GenAI, and fuelling performance through upskilling and the employee experience.

According to the research more than a third of workers (45%) noted that their workload has significantly increased in the last year. Regarding digital transformation, 46% of employees noted that they anticipate technological changes in the next year. Widespread use of Generative AI in the workplace has yet to occur, however, 61% of workers indicated that they have used Generative AI at least once in the past 12 months, and only 12% use it on a daily basis. The study found that 62% of employees and 65% of CEOs perceive that Generative AI would increase efficiencies in the workplace. With 77% of workers indicating they are ready to adapt to new ways of working, and 72% expressing excitement over opportunities to learn and grow.
