Peninsula Group released the Workplace Mental Health Trends in Canada Report, which delves into the latest data on mental health in the workplace. Based on Peninsula Group’s Annual Global Client survey, the data shows that there may be a shift in the way Canadian workers approach mental health with their employers. Over 79,000 organizations across Australia, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand were surveyed, revealing a 140% increase year-over-year in the number of employers struggling to manage poor mental health across their workforce. Mental health-related sickness absence also increased by 20% in the last year. According to the research, there has been a 31% increase in the number of employees opening up about mental health concerns in the workplace. The study found that work-life balance among Canadian employees has also increased by 30%. In comparison to other countries, Canada is more likely to offer mental health days in addition to personal leave.
