The National Alliance for Children and Youth (NACY) is launching a week-long social media campaign in the week of March 17th, 2025, to raise awareness of the urgent challenges young people face in Canada. The campaign is a call to action for government leaders to address these pressing issues and work towards a future where youth can thrive. 

“We are seeing an unprecedented number of children and youth facing mental health crises, inequities, and barriers to support,” said Joelle Lamport Lewis, Executive Director of NACY. “These issues have only been magnified by a rapidly changing world that leaves young people behind.” 

With rising mental health concerns, economic pressures, and limited job opportunities, young people are increasingly struggling to access vital services, putting them at risk for long-term consequences. 

As Canada approaches the elections, NACY urges politicians to prioritize policies that support children and youth. Our NACY Emerging Leaders Roundtable leaders say, ‘The growing economic disparity among young people limits access to education and upward mobility. Without financial aid, fair wages, and student debt relief, education becomes a source of hardship, not opportunity.’” 

The campaign encourages individuals to join the conversation on social media using #YoungPeopleAreNotOkay and share their own stories and ideas for creating a brighter future for youth.
